The competition is made up of a maximum of 3 rounds
Round 1
Set manoeuvres round wrapped in a freestyle flight
- Pilots will fly their choice of 4 set manoeuvres (from the published list)
- Flights should be between 2.5 and 3.5 minutes in total
- Each set manoeuvre within the flight can be awarded a maximum of 35 points (based on flying K3.5 manoeuvres)
- The overall flight appearance will be awarded points out of 50
- Each set manoeuvre will be called before it is started, along with the start and end points of the manoeuvre
- Total maximum points for the round is 190
Round 1 will be judged on the following criteria:
- Accurate execution of the manoeuvre
- Height (includes overall height of manoeuvre and height consistency throughout it)
- Entry and Exit
- Position and Symmetry
The Freestyle element of the set manoeuvres flight will be judged on the following criteria:
- Overall appearance (includes structure, flow, positioning, usage of flying area)
- Transitions between manoeuvres
- Variety (not repeating manoeuvres or transitions too often)
Round 2
Freestyle flight which will be judged and scored as follows:
Overall appearance (Out of 50 points) - includes:
- Variety
- Style (Aggressive, Smooth, Crowd pleasing, etc)
- Use of airspace (High, Low, Big, Small, etc)
Technical merit (Out of 50 points) - includes:
- Difficulty
- Transitions
- New manoeuvres
- Control (fully controlled flight - no winging it)
- Accuracy
The Freestyle flight should be as close to 3 minutes as possible
Round 3
Freestyle flight set to music which will be judged and scored as follows:
Choreography (Out of 70 points) - includes:
- Flying in time with the music
- Variety
- Style
- Use of airspace
Technical merit (Out of 30 points) - includes:
- Difficulty
- Transitions
- New manoeuvres
- Control (fully controlled flight - no winging it)
- Accuracy
Freestyle flight set to music should be between 2:50 and 3:10 in total time
